Our excuse for going now ...

(...even though we still can't afford it!)

I submitted my Masters thesis to the IASCL (International Association of the Study of Child Language) conference Monday July 28-Friday August 1. I was accepted as a poster presentation - I'll try to figure out a way to show my poster here once I finish it. And no, they are not paying for me ... BPS is not paying for me ... BU is not paying for me ... I'm just hoping to get Bob to pay for the poster itself for me! :)
McEwan Hall at the University of Edinburgh
I'm really excited to have an opportunity to see the speakers that will be there - many of the topics have sparked my interest. I am presenting on the first day, so I'll be able to get it over with and enjoy the rest of my time there! Hit the post title to see the full schedule. Some highlights I'm looking forward to:

Monday - Andrew Meltzoff of U. of Washington on "Social cognition and early language development in infancy"
my poster presentation - along with all the other posters who studied deaf children's language
Welcome Reception at the National Museum of Scotland!

Tuesday - Marc Hauser of Harvard on "Evolution of the language faculty"
Symposium on orally educated deaf children

Wednesday - Symposium on language processing and linguistic abilities in Autism Spectrum Disorder
Conference Ceilidh (dance) at Balmoral Hotel

Thursday - 3 symposia at the same time that all look interesting - one is on gesture and language development (though I'll have more chances for that topic), one is on bilingual language development and the third is on theory of mind and linguistic development!

Friday - Symposium on language components in literacy development
Symposium on gesture at linguistic milestones
Rachel Mayberry of U. of California on "Nature and nurture in the development of complex language comprehension"
